Revving Up and Raring to Go.

The Christmas and New Year break’s been plenty long enough, so now its time we burned some rubber again.

Out at number 50 in this Sunday’s Jack Frost Stages at Croft Autodrome, are James Robertson and Colin Maxwell, getting together again in the C2 R2 after a long break, their last event together having been a Scottish Championship event many months ago. No doubt several cobwebs will have been swept away by Sunday evening!.

And for next week’s Rally Historique Monte Carlo which starts in Glasgow and on which SOSCC will marshall the Auldgirth ‘Welcome Point’ on Saturday afternoon, the Caledonian Classic and Historic Motor Sport Club have added three ‘Heritage’ runs, to cater for those who have classic or sporty cars, but dont intend to drive over 2000 miles and do the actual Historic snow covered stages around Monaco.

The first run (all of which incidentally go over the same start ramp as the full Historic event) is the ‘Run to the Borders’ which after going via Kilmarnock, Ayr, Cumnock, Thornhill etc, finishes at Auldgirth and Gordon and Karen Clendinning will do this in the rapid red Chevette we all know and love.

For those who want go a bit further, the ‘Run to the Moors’ carries on from Auldgirth and finishes at Barnby Moor a famous checkpoint on the original Monte’s back in the 50’s. Harold Tweedie and Roland Proudlock will do this run in Harold’s MG TF. And finally, Gordon and Margaret Hood will do the ‘Run to the Sun’ which ends …. guess where….. in Monaco of Course. G & H will do this in the family Alpha which Gordon has discovered cannot have snow chains fitted. I sincerely hope they dont need them!.
