Snowman 2015

Three SOSCC crews braved the first round of the 2015 SRC and only one finished.

Jim Robertson and Colin Maxwell had an uneventful day although the roads were, according to Colin, “a bit rough and guttery and a bit difficult to get grip but we had no real issues. The main thing was to get points for the championship”. The pair finished 36th overall and 5th in class and thanful to get to the end of a rally of attrition.

David and Kevin on the other hand, had a couple of spins on stage one and then, despite taking fastest on stage two, had developed clutch problems which meant an early bath.

Greg and Chris got just a short distance into a 13 mile stage when they suffered suspension damage after a very rough starting section. Greg commented that the organisers could easily have started the stage from the turning circle his and several other broken cars were parked in and that missing out the rough starting section would have taken nothing away from the stage.

Makes you wonder whether organisers and the forestry commision really pay any attention to the fact that people pay good money for stages and expect a duty of care from them.

Here are Frank Love’s pics from one of the early stages.
